Ivolginsky datsan

A unique temple complex, which appeared in the middle of the last century in Buryatia, the Ivolginsky datsan attracts with its unique architecture. The appearance of this building is not accidental, so in the region they decided to revive Buddhist culture, and the datsan became a symbol.

  • Thousands of pilgrims come here to touch the imperishable body of the Khambo Lama. For this, a separate small temple was even built, into which the body was transferred at the beginning of the 2000s.
  • Datsan is a temple ensemble with colorful roofs and is considered an architectural and historical monument of world significance.
  • When visiting a datsan, it is worth remembering the rule that it is forbidden to turn your back on the Buddha statues.

Barguzin valley

  • Between the two ridges is one of the most beautiful places in the world — the Barguzin Valley. This is a unique valley that attracts tourists with its picturesque landscapes.
  • In addition, it is considered one of the most promising tourist destinations in the region, as a huge number of natural, cultural and historical complexes are concentrated here.
  • It is here that one of the Buddhist shrines, Mount Barakhgan, is located. In different periods, Buddhist and Orthodox temples were built here, many of which have survived to this day.

Among the natural attractions, it is worth noting the rock garden with huge boulders that reach a diameter of 4 meters. Several dozens of mineral springs are concentrated in the valley.

Lake Baikal

  • The symbol of the republic and a place of pilgrimage for tourists is Lake Baikal, which is considered the largest body of water in Europe, which contains fresh water. The total area of ​​the natural reservoir is more than 30 square kilometers.
  • Many representatives of flora and fauna are listed in the Red Book. The water in the lake is so clear that even in winter, when the surface of the reservoir is covered with ice, you can see the bottom, covered with depressions and ridges.
