Many tourists tend to visit Dubai specifically for visiting the beaches. The coast of the Emirates consists of fine «sea» sand, and the entrance to the depth is smooth, without sharp cliffs. This makes the beach an ideal place to relax.

  • But we must not forget about the «beach» season: a visit to the coast is recommended from October to April. This is due to the very high temperature in summer, sometimes reaching up to + 45 °C.

Unfortunately, there are not many beaches in Dubai that are open to everyone. But thanks to the developed infrastructure, their number is growing every year. Currently, you can relax in a few places for free — some are located near hotels, others are right in the city center.

Let’s consider each of the available vacation spots in more detail.

Jumeirah Open Beach

Jumeirah Open Beach is named after the hotel where it is located. Jumeirah Beach Road stretches nearby.

  • The beach itself is quite long — almost a kilometer of the coast. In addition to the sea sand, there is a road of large stones leading directly to the sea.
  • The shore itself deepens very smoothly — it is not so easy to swim to great depths. The width of the beach is approximately 100 meters. Sand and water are constantly cleared of debris.

Jumeirah is the most visited free beach, as it contains many advantages.

  • Firstly, the entrance is not limited — anyone can visit the beach.
  • Secondly, cleanliness and order around — the hotel area is constantly cleared of garbage and other contaminants.
  • Thirdly, there are various shops and shops right on the beach — you can buy a couple of souvenirs while walking along the beach.

The advantage can also be considered a convenient location — it is easy to get here from anywhere in Dubai and the trip takes only 20 minutes. Local transport stops here, taxis and transfers go

  • To get to Jumeirah Open Beach on your own, you need to get off at the World Trade station and walk to Al Diyafa Street, and from there take a direct bus. You can use a local taxi — just say the name of the beach, as all local drivers know it.

Jumeirah Beach Residents

Initially, this is a residential area located near the Persian Gulf. Equipped with a beach, the length of which is more than two kilometers.

  • Nearby is Dubai Marina. The beach is very popular with the locals.
  • Until 2015, it was an undeveloped coast, but now it is equipped with everything necessary for recreation.
  • Currently, the water is regularly cleaned by maintenance personnel.
  • The coastline is fine sand, but in some places there are equipped lawns.

You can go to the beach for free, and for a fee you can buy additional hobbies — a walk on a catamaran or rent a bike. The price of entertainment varies from 10 to 300 AED.

Children can play on special playgrounds. For them, there is a small water park on the territory — the cost of visiting it is 65 AED.

  • There are several ways to get to the beach: by taxi, by metro or by bus. The price for a taxi varies depending on the company, but the average is 50 AED. You have to pay for the transfer from 80 AED. When choosing this method, please note that there may be traffic jams in the Dubai Marina area in the evening.
  • You can get to the beach by metro : you need to get on the red line, and get off from it at the Jumeirah Lake Towers or Dubai Marina station. After the exit, you can either walk for about 10 minutes, or take a tram and go to JBR 1 or 2. Local buses also carry to the beach: 8, F55A and 88.

La Mer Beach

  • La Mer has been open since 2018 and is located on the Palm Jumeirah. But age does not prevent you from claiming the title of the best beach in your area.

The beach has certain advantages — a large parking lot (more than 1000 places), stations for charging smartphones, a relaxation room, etc. The beach itself is larger than all the others — about 2.5 km.

La Mer is open from 10:00 to 00:00 every day. There is no charge for entering the beach, but you will have to pay for additional entertainment.

For example, the entrance to the local water park will cost 125 AED, and the car park will cost about 30 AED per hour. The exact prices can always be viewed on the official website of La Mer beach.

  • La Mer Beach is located in the Jumeirah 1 area. You can get here in different ways. You can use public transport — these are buses number 9 or 88. Many hotels offer a direct transfer. You can also get there by taxi — the beach has become quite popular, so you won’t have to explain where it is.

Barasti Beach Club

Barasti Beach is probably the most popular in Dubai. Most likely because on Thursday and Friday evenings it turns into an open-air nightclub.

It is located in the Dubai Marina area, next to the Le Meridien Mina Seyahi Beach Resort & Marina. The beach is monitored: there is no garbage and dirt on it, but there is clear water and white sand.

  • Vacationers can use the locker rooms and showers. You can sunbathe lying on a sun lounger.
  • Passage to the shore is free, but you cannot bring any food and drink with you — even bottled water is prohibited. It can be bought at local cafes and shops.

There are many tourists on the beach, including Russians, but the locals hardly visit it. The reason for this is alcohol — there is a lot of it, and the townspeople are forbidden to drink it, since they adhere to Islam.

  • The location of the beach is next to the Palm Jumeirah island. It takes a long time to get to the beach by local transport — about 1.5 hours. You need to sit down at the stop Hor Al Anz, Turnoff 2 on the C14 bus. Get off at City Center MS A 1, from there to Deira City Center metro station and take the red line metro. Get off at Damac Properties station and then take the T1 tram. From it you need to get off at the Marina Towers stop, and walk the rest of the way.

Kite Beach

Kite Beach is a public beach. Mostly popular for its surfing opportunities. Unlike all other free beaches, this one is located remotely from everyone. Most often, it is reached by transfer from the hotel.

Here you can often meet companies that are passionate about traditional beach activities — volleyball, water polo, beach football, etc. The beach has won its fame among lovers of an active lifestyle.

The sand on the beach is fine and pleasant for walking barefoot, and the water is crystal clear. The water near the shore is always calm, and sixty meters away, waves are formed that are sufficient for surfing.

  • If you need to get to the beach on your own, it is better to use a taxi. If this is not possible, then you can use local transport. But the route will not be direct, you will have to go with transfers. First, take the metro from Sharaf DG station, get to Business Bay and get off there, then take a bus and get to Hassa Bint Al Murr Masjid 2. From there you can already see the beach.
  • In addition to free beaches, there are many coasts in Dubai with paid entrance — Al Mamzar, Jumeirah Beach Park, Sheraton and others.

But if you don’t want to overpay for the opportunity to splash in warm water and soak up the sun, then you can choose any beach from the list and go there.

It is important to understand that the beaches do not differ much from each other — just for free additional services are paid separately, and for paid ones they are included in the cost of the pass.
